Acceptance vs. Awareness

Yesterday I wrote about wanting Autism Acceptance. We want people to respect and love B just the way he is.  I created this graphic to get you thinking about Acceptance vs Awareness.

As always, let's talk about these things! Leave questions or comments below!

I really like the chart. I also like the fact that you have taught this old man a lot. One of the things I think about reading through this is how many people might avoid contact because they just don't know how to approach or handle the fact that someone has "__________" fill in the blank. Cancer, autism, whatever. To me there is such a loss of learning because they don't engage and just try to understand. You have helped me to understand so many things, so please do not stop.

Thanks Aimee.

I think you are so right! We shy away from things we don't understand. Especially sensitive things And that can end up hurting people we love.

Thank you for always being willing to learn and share!
